Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the selected vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations for car hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable when you collect the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for standard wear. Any new damage will be evaluated and associated charges will apply. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us if you foresee a delay. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should not be used for purposes beyond its intended design, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Jarrow Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is capped at the total amount you paid for rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Jarrow's Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
