Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle with us requires:

• To rent a vehicle from Jarrow Car Hire, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Booking and Payments

• Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document this. The vehicle must be returned in the same state as it was collected, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns can incur extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect a delay. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or related charges incurred during your rental period, along with a small administration fee.

Insurance and Responsibility

• All rentals from Jarrow include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial risk. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of any insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the booking type and the notice period provided. Please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for precise information. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited uses of the vehicle:

• The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar dangerous pursuits is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not acceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and all passenger and weight limits must be adhered to. Driving outside the specified geographical limits requires prior approval.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Jarrow Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.

Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
